March 23, 2008 / Easter in NYC!
Hello dear ADiML! I'm Ameya, 20 year old ohioan student-type person (who does this every couple months). This is my March 23/Easter/Trip to NYC to visit/wreak havok with one of our (and definitely my) favorite new yorker(s), cphillips1892. She just did ADIML of the day I left, if you recall. I had some technical dificulties so I'm just now getting around to posting this from last Sunday, soooo, here goes!

Wakey wakey (3 hours after sleepy sleepy). My boyfriend didn't even bother to sleep, as he's the one driving me to the airport. That's him playing on his computer and Xbox 360 (which he's hiding from view) which he did all night and kept waking me up. Ugh :p.

Feel dead & check my internets.

get all my stuff together. Yes, my coat/purse/laptop all match. I have a thing for light green. It's wonderful.

It's a goode thing I don't look horrible or anything.

aaand, we're off!

heading to the airport/ flying into Chicago for my flight change. In case you aren't familiar with American geography, I live in Ohio... So I had to go an hour WEST to Chicago, in order to catch a plane going about two hours EAST to NYC. It was pretty stupid, really, but whatevah.

cut to Westchester County Airport! it's about an hour north of manhattan, and about 80$ cheaper than LGA or JFK. On my way home I ended up here in the middle of the night, and it's so small it was closed, but the nice police guys let me sleep on the floor for a few hours and one woke me up in time to get on the plane. So yay for them, but boo for not having a floor made out of mattresses. I think I still hurt.

I catch the bus to the train station

eye am such a camwhore when bored.
Anddd so darn punny.

these are the theatre kids from UCLA Irvine (I think?) who I befriended on the bus/train adventure.

I do believe the intense sunlight was murdering my retinas here.

one stop in Harlem...

aand we're in Grand Central.

time check with what I call the Madagascar clock.

Chelsea arrives and I neglect to take a picture, so here we are on the way to her place.

you may recognize these from her second-to-last ADiML, horton hears a who ears! I like swag.

I drop off my stuff, and we're off again.

...and stumble across a bizaare Easter festival of crazy hats. That's a HAT! What?!
For the sake of keeping my picture count down that's the only one I'm posting, but there are many more at my flickr (link on my journal).

I try to take sneaky crowd shots.
Stolen from chelsea. She bought me a delicious welcome-back-to-NYC pretzel :D

Break dancers!

Central Park!

I make her play tourist with me so she can have pretty pictures to look back on when she moves to London.

hai, it's me! And the world's tiniest photographer.

sup.

sometimes such things are just nessesary.

we stalkerly witnessed an easter proposal in central park! AWW! this is after she bent down to huggle attack cute boy. We assume that meant yes xD

I am a hardcore Beatles fan, and yet in the 8 trillion and 6 times i've been to NYC I've never been here!

Now we're back to roaming the streets.

pitstop at the diner by her place for delicious milkshakes (which I believe we had every night that week). While there we got a call from her friend Emily who was out and about with her visiting sister, so we decided to meet up and walk over to ASSSSCAT at the UCB Theatre.

We all know Chelsea is a VIP.

we were meeting them at the blue thing. I was so excited to see the ice skating rink still open, I've never been to NYC in the winter before. (OMGITSJUSTLIKEINTHEMOVIES. ...ahem.)

Took this instead of pictures of Emily & her sister, because I'm a bad documenter like that. You'll see them soon.

weird but neat-o things.

reflectionnnn

aand after what felt like forever to my cold and tired self, we are here! 3ish hours early so we can get front row.

Chelsea, displaying super human crate-lifting abilities, brings us things to sit on. Hurray!

Okay, here they all are!

Time check. Like my butler/murdering gloves? More swag from "Funny Games" which Chelsea helped promote. They were so gross by the end of the day. NYC is a dirty dirty place, WHO KNEW!?

The grocery store right next door comes in handy for emergency cheese cravings.

Also, apparently they found the most amazing popcorn of all time. They were going crazy for it, but it just tasted like popcorn to me.

Emily's sister and I eventually went into the store just to thaw out. Did I mention it had gotten crazy cold? Because it had. For real.

Darkness descends.

We finally got our tickets, then wandered off to a pizza place for some dinner until the 9:30 show.

we get back and re-line ourselves.

Please observe the amazingness of these seats. The camera was on my knee in this picture, so these kids were actually sitting at my feet, so I still was in the front row (of chairs). I was totally psyched to be so close ! when I saw them at SNL I was up on the balcony. I think Amy Poehler & Seth Meyers (who I now have an official crush on) were the only ones there (and just 2 feet away from meee. glorious.) that you might have heard of, but they were all (sans monologuer) hilarious. It was a great show.

The show ended and Chelsea and I headed back to her home.

Someone just pointed out that this looks like it's raining glowing feet, and that amuses me.

we all live in a yellow submarine...

Time check. I don't want to be a negative nancy, so I won't comment on my battery, or how common a sight that is :p.

Aaand then we stayed up for a very long time playing with our photos and watching Across the Universe. I kinda crashed so no sleepy time picture was taken but here, I'll draw it out for you:
